Very
little is known about this truly enigmatic man. Seed may
not be a household name these days, but he is one of the
most respected and feared players in the world. Huck
earns his place on this list by virtue of being one of
the original young guns in poker, winning a World
Championship and millions of dollars well before the age
of 30.
Biggest
Poker Accomplishment: Won the World Championship in
1996 at the tender age of 26. Made another Main Event
final table in 1999, ultimately finishing 6th
after a ballsy bluff went sour.
Playing
Style: Active and aggressive. Huck is liable to play
any 2 cards, and doesn’t hesitate to push all of his
chips in the middle if he thinks he can steal a pot.
Strengths:
Huck is a Sphinx at the table. He is unnervingly cool
and emotionless at all times, never giving off a hint of
a tell. You never know if Huck is up or down. He’s
just there – seemingly uninterested but with his foot
firmly on the gas.
Weaknesses:
Huck has
confessed that he has burned out on poker several times
in the past. When this happens his game is no better
than some drunken jack off grinding on the internet.
Tournament
Winnings: Just over $3 million to date.
The
Bottom Line: In
the late 90’s, Seed was considered one of the best
heads up cash players in the world, regularly taking on
all comers. He was also (and remains) a notorious
proposition gambler. One of his most famous bets was
that Howard Lederer (6’5”
and 310 lbs.) would lose enough weight to match his own
180 lbs., in the period of a year. Not surprisingly,
Huck lost the bet and $50,000.
