Octopuses – Pocket 8’s.

Odds – Chance that a player will win a pot, expressed as a percentage.

Off Suit – Cards of different suits.

Online Poker – Poker played in virtual card rooms on the internet.

On the Button – Acting last in a betting round – the position of the dealer.

Open – To initiate a betting round.

Open-Ended Straight Draw – A draw in which a player can hit two different cards to make a straight. For instance, a player with 3-4-5-6 can hit a 2 or a 7 to make a straight.

Option – In the pre-flop betting round, the big blind has the option to check or raise if everyone limps.

Out – A card that can give a player the best hand. If a player has an open-ended straight draw they have 8 outs.

Outdraw – When a player comes from behind and makes a draw to a better hand.

Overcard – A community card higher than the pair a player holds.

Overpair – Having a pocket pair higher than the cards showing on the board.

Over The Top – When a player reraises an opponent’s initial bet or raise. A reraise is generally the sign of a very big hand.
