Poker Dictionary - Terms And Definitions

Ladies – Pair of queens in the hole.

Late Position – To be seated within two players of the button in Hold’Em and Omaha games.

Lay down – To fold a hand that is beat. “Wow, what a lay down!”

Lead – The first player to bet into a pot.

Limp – To simply call the big blind bet before the flop.

Live Cards – To hold two cards that aren’t duplicated in another player’s hand. If a player hits a live card they can still win a pot.

Loose – A player that is involved in lots of hands and calls too many bets.

Low-Stakes – Poker games with fixed limits of $2-$4 and smaller.

Luck – Mysterious force in poker that allows any player to win on any given day.
