Poker Dictionary - Terms And Definitions

Gallery – Spectators watching a poker match.

Gambler – A player who makes bets in spite of the odds being stacked against them.

Game Theory – Tactics for playing particular poker games, rooted strongly in mathematics and probability.

Garbage – Weak, useless hand, such as 7 2 in Hold’Em.

Good Shape – When a player is ahead in a hand and has a high probability of winning, they are said to be in good shape.

Grinder – A player that employs a conservative style of minimal risk and small rewards. Knish in Rounders is the ultimate grinder.

Gutshot – A straight draw in which an inside card will complete a straight. For instance, a player needing to hit a 6 to make the 4-5-6-7-8 straight.
