Early Position To
be in one of the positions to the immediate left of the
dealer button. An early position player has the
disadvantage acting first in all subsequent betting
rounds.
Edge Holding an
advantage in a particular hand.
Elimination When a
player runs out of chips during a poker tournament they
are eliminated.
Endgame When a
poker tournament gets down to the final few players.
Equity The amount
of money a player can expect to win in any given pot. If
there is a $200 pot and the players hand has a 25%
chance of winning, their equity is $50.
Etiquette Refers to
the proper way for players to conduct themselves at the
poker table, i.e. like gentlemen.
Even-Money When a
player has a roughly 50% chance of winning a pot.
Expectation The
amount of money a player can expect to make through
making the same play in the same situation repeatedly
over time.
Exposed Card A card
accidentally dealt face up by the dealer. When this
happens, a re-deal commonly occurs.
